OpenStreetMap is free and open-source community-driven project to create editable maps for the world. The project provides data geolocation data about roads, trails, businesses, railway stations, air ports and much more. The data provided by the community and OpenStreetMap is free to use for any software project that requires maps, as long as you credit the project and its contributors.

MapServer is an free and open-source platform for publishing spatial data and interactive mapping applications to the web. Originally developed in the mid-1990’s at the University of Minnesota, MapServer is openly developed and released under an MIT-style license, and runs cross-platform on macOS, Linux and Windows. MapServer is not a full-featured GIS system, nor does it aspire to be. 

With PocketMaps, you can store free offline map on your android device. The project is free and open-source and uses OSM data, Mapsforge-vtm and Graphhopper open source API.

It offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360° interactive panoramic views of streets, real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bicycle, air and public transportation. Google Maps is available on the web and as native experiences on mobile devices.
