Friendica is a free and open-source software decentralized social network. With Friendica you can host your own server with a unique domain while being part of the Friendica fediverse of federated services. You can also join one of the already hosted and managed servers as with any other social network. The main difference with Friendica and more common social networks like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram is the distributed nature of the software and it's use built-in support for ActivityPub. Allowing you not only to connect to a plethora of Friendica servers but also connect with other ActivityPub-protocol powered social networks like Funkwhale, Hubzilla, Mastodon, Pleroma, Pixelfed and GNU Social.

GNUnet
Help build the internet of tomorrow with GNUnet. It's a software framework for fully decentralized, peer-to-peer networking that offers link encryption, peer discovery, resource allocation, and secure communication. The goal of the project is to replace the old insecure Internet protocol stack. GNUnet includes a fully decentralized DNS (Domain Name System) that utilize a directed graph instead of the hierarchical system implemented today.
